Dear Ms. Ghosh,
I am sorry it has taken me so long to write this letter of thanks for your very timely presentation on cultural competency at our Gender Matters conference here in Monterey, September 14-15.
Let me first say that I liked your style of presentation. Your familiarity with the subject matter seemed to give you the freedom to interact more freely and openly with an audience that can be difficult when presented with such topics. The scenarios you presented were right on target and the interactive sessions made the point clearly that people who present and behave differently, as we perceive it, just may not be familiar with the "ground rules" of our culture/society.
As a result of your training sessions, I have already found opportunities to practice interviewing and interacting more effectively with people I would have had difficulty with in the past. What is sad is that before, I would have blamed them for the negative outcome.
I wish you much success as you endeavor to help other physicians, as you have helped me.
